In Search of Thicker Blood

Currently, I am working on editing my first novel titled "In Search of Thicker BLood ". I first started working on this piece in 2023, and completed my first draft mid-2025. Since then I have been on & off working on editing it, as life unfortunately happens and motivation goes up & down. It's currently in the middle of line revisions (tedious af).It's a new adult novel featuring vampires, queer characters, and questionable relationships.Below, you can find the synopsis, a small excerpt, some art, and the "official" Spotify playlist.

Velvet Baxter was just fine on her own.She just wanted to be as famous as any other 80's music star. Instead, she's spent the past forty years surviving on the streets of LA as an Orphaned vampire - abandoned by her Sire after her Turning. While trying to cling on to her humanity and learn the unspoken rules of a society she never asked to be a part of, her Sire is sending vampires to kill her.Then the vampire passing through town - Emory Lancaster - ends up stealing her guitar, the one link she has to her humanity. She's just fine taking her guitar back and being on her way. That is, until she loses control and ends up drinking his blood.Now, she'll have to navigate being Blood Bonded to a total stranger. But as Velvet and Emory get closer, the lines of what's her and what's the Bond begin to blur. And it turns out that Vampiric Society is a bigger deal than she initially thought.

“Even if we just lay here, that’s still a win in my book…”Velvet’s heart stumbled as he spoke. She couldn’t help the undignified laugh that escaped her lungs - at two ideas.The situation she’d found herself in.
And the intrusive thought that’d lurched in her mind; that believed he’d leaned in to take revenge and bite her back.“You’re horrid, Emory,” she whispered back the unusually fond tease as she realized the proximity of their faces. “If I’d known you were such a flirt, maybe I would’ve bitten you sooner.”A low laugh from Emory dusted her face, as his heart too stumbled. He moved closer to loom over her, nearly inches away from her face. His eyes studied her features - the splashes of lighter coloured skin against the darker tone. The small faint flecks of blue that remained in her crimson eyes.She too studied him. The way his dark brown hair cascaded over his shoulder, hovered to her side. His eyes, crimson but swirling with a concoction of other red hues.“Now now, don’t get my hopes up, V. I might wanna take a bite out of you if you keep that up.” Emory parted his lips slightly, licked his fangs with his tongue. She could spot the hungry look in his eyes - not for blood.
